DIY Vanity Area For Kids
It’s official, I’m moving into Maevrys room. This quick little project has been so much fun to build. I wanted a little area for her to be more independent. She loves doing things by herself and I don’t want to hold her back. My two year old is going on twelve!
LIKE ALL MY PROJECTS, THIS ONE WAS A RANDOM WEEKEND IDEA.
I had a vision of what I wanted it to look like so I really just let the little girl inside me take the lead.
The first thing I did was cleaned out all the unnecessary toys and organized them into baskets. I know this will only last for about a week but it pleases the perfectionist part of me. Then I made the clothing rack.
CLOTHING RACK
Material
First thing I did was cut the boards to 2.5ft and drilled holes at the top with a 3/4in drill bit and sanded the holes with a Dremel. Once that was done, it was really easy to put together. I screwed the eye hooks onto the legs and tied 15 strung beads to the hooks to help hold the structure.
After the clothing rack was done I finished the vanity. Most of this was just hanging stuff. The only thing I had to craft was the beads to help hold the weight of the shelf, I strung 28 leftover beads on each side of the shelf by attaching them to the bottom front corners of the shelf and screwing the the top of the beads to the wall. Voila, a very cute vanity dressing area for a toddler.
THE LITTLE TOUCHES
I couldn’t find a stool I liked that was under $30 dollars so I used an old crate basket flipped upside down and painted it with some leftover paint. I got some cheap makeup brushes and a mint cup from Ross.
Now it’s your turn! Go get creative. I would love to see what you come up with.
